St. Emily French Club
At a time when the ability to speak at least one foreign language has become more critical, studies are also showing that the earlier a child learns a foreign language the easier it is to tap into the younger child’s natural auditory and verbal development. This means that giving your child a head start with foreign language in the elementary grades can be a real advantage. Mrs. Grau, an accredited teacher, with a degree in both elementary education and French is offering a French enrichment program after school at St. Emily on Thursdays. A goal of this program is to help children gain the skills needed to acquire new languages easily. French is a good language to learn in the early grades because of its similarity to English. French is the most widely spoken language in the world next to English. According to French for Mastery, French is spoken in nearly 40 countries around the world. That is why the official languages of the Olympics are both English and French. The class for new students meets on Thursdays from 2:30 p.m. to 3:10 p.m. The cost of the program is $26 per month paid directly to Mrs. Grau. Special events this semester include a Mardi Gras celebration, a French food tasting party, and receiving a French puppet for a presentation in the Spring. If you’d like to be part of the fun please contact Mrs. Grau:
