Extra Curricular Activities
St. Emily School is dedicated to nurturing the whole child. We recognize the value of developing team building and social skills, in addition to academics. We believe these programs develop necessary life skills such as leadership, cooperation and creativity.
Academic Competitions: St. Emily participates in Scholastic Bowl, Spelling Bee, Geography Bee, Science Olympiad; as well as Math, Fire Prevention, Essay, and Poetry Contests, and the Lions Club Peace Project Poster Contest.
Altar Serving: 5th through 8th grade students may serve at week day and weekend Masses.
Band: 4th through 8th grade may participate in the band program, which includes lessons before and during the school day. The band performs at the school Christmas show and holds a spring concert.
Drama Club: Students in grades 4-8 may participate in winter and spring productions. Recent productions include The Nutcracker, The Wizard of Oz, Beauty and the Beast, and the Lion King. All students learn acting techniques, the “ins and outs” of the theater, and how to work as a team. Participating in live theatre enables each student to build confidence and learn the value of hard work and dedication in a fun environment.
Lego Club: An after school club for grades 1-3 that provides the opportunity to learn while having fun building with LEGO® brand bricks. Each week students are challenged with a task which has specific parameters based on a themed project to build.
Lexiconz and Lexiconz Littles Book Club: Students read novels and discuss vocabulary, plot and characters. Fun arts and crafts activities that go with the novel are a weekly activity.
National Junior Honor Society (NJHS): Seventh and eighth grade students may be inducted. The purpose is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, stimulate a desire to serve others, promote leadership, develop character, and encourage citizenship. We focus on service as a main tenet of our organization.
Pep Club: 7th and 8th grade students support and enrich a variety of school activities fostering creativity and cooperation while sharing positive energy, and Eagle pride. Pep Club sponsors all-school assemblies throughout the year.
Rainbows: An after school program of meetings offered to any child who is experiencing a significant change in his or her life.
Scouting: Open to Boys and Girls, Grades K – 8
Student Council: Open to students in grades 4 through 8. Students are elected by their classmates to be representatives of the organization. The main purpose of Student Council is to prepare and empower student leaders to serve St. Emily School and its community.
